I'm 16 weeks today, and apparently I'm no longer having a baby; I'm making guacamole. Either one sounds good to me, although I think some people would be disappointed if the baby came out green and wrinkly.
Things are still chugging right along here. I'm getting a little more energy, and still no morning sickness. I feel so lucky to have been spared that loveliness. I'm in that really annoying stage where my regular clothes aren't really fitting anymore, but my belly isn't quite big enough for most maternity stuff. So I've been wearing a lot of stretchy pants or jeans held closed with a rubber band. Sexy, no?
I also feel like I'm in a weird stage where I should be doing more to prepare (I think "they" call it nesting). But then I think it's too soon and plus we don't even know the gender yet.
So it's all a bit of trying to take things slow and enjoy the ride. Lord knows this is the calm before the storm!
It's official! John and I are expecting our first little one. The "go live" date for Baby v1.0 is March 13, 2010. So far things are proceeding along on schedule with very few complications. And we couldn't be more thrilled!
The first trimester sped along. No morning sickness, just a whole lotta fatigue. Nothing that a big ole daily nap couldn't take care of. Now we're into the second semester, and I'm waiting for some of my energy to come back. I'm also dealing with some pretty intense food cravings. Does anyone have any boneless buffalo wings?
We'll find out the gender in early October. Then the real knitting can begin. As of now, I've only knit one sweater for the bean. I'll post photos tomorrow. It's super cute. Love the miniature knits! Until then, I'd love suggestions for your favorite "gender unknown" baby knits. And suggestions for colors -- I'm not a fan of pastels! Thanks!
But I guess that doesn't mean I can't post, huh? We are officially moved in, although we still have boxes to unpack. So far we haven't had any nasty surprises. We love the new house, and we're settling in just fine. I'll post photos if I ever find the camera(s).
In the meantime, how about a book review?
The lovely folks at the Penguin Group sent me this book to review -- "Wacky Baby Knits." The book contains "20 knitted designs for the fashion-conscious toddler." I don't have any photos of the contents, but you can see more and download some of the patterns online here.
The book includes a short "how-to" section for new knitters. The pictures are easy to follow, and I think it would be helpful for the brand new knitter. Then we have hats, mittens, jackets and outfits just to name a few. My favorite section is the hat section. I especially love the Mohawk hat and the Flying Helmet.
The wacky little outfits are really over the top. There's a cow, a frog and a pirate suit (sounds like the opening line of a joke, huh?). There's also a crazy robot suit, a biker jacket and a tutu. All of these would make super cute Halloween outfits.
All in all, it's a super cute book with options for anyone. The Flying Helmet hat would make a great baby shower gift, while the frog outfit would make a great toddler costume. Check out this book on Amazon today!
